Toyota is reportedly developing a new Pre-Collision System that it has dubbed PCS as a preliminary moniker. The system uses millimeter-wave radar to detect vehicles in front of it. As the gap between your vehicle and the one in front of you is closed by traveling at a faster speed, PCS will warn you to brake in order to reduce the likelihood of an accident.

PCS can make accurate predictions about how likely a collision is to occur because Toyota developed it using data from real crashes. In other words, it's wise to heed the system's warnings. If you fail to, however, worry not; it has the power to automatically apply the brakes if you can't react in time. What's more, it does so with twice the force and human driver is capable of, slowing the vehicle by 9 to 18.5 miles per hour. This is sure to result in fewer trips to our Toyota service and repair experts (with the exception of routine maintenance, of course.

DCH Toyota of Torrance can't wait to see PCS make its way into production models in the near future. The big question on everyone's mind right now is what model exactly that will be. As Toyota puts the finishing touches on PCS, we're sure to hear more. That said, we'll update you the moment we know more.
