If you've been thinking of taking one of the new Toyota vehicles that DCH Toyota of Torrance offers at 2909 Pacific Coast Highway, Torrance, CA for a test drive, just know that you're not alone. The first quarter of 2012 was quite impressive as Toyota and its subsidiary brands increased sales by 18 percent for a total of 2.49 million sold around the world. This puts the Japanese automaker well ahead of the competition. In other words, Toyota has retaken the title of 'World's Largest Automaker'.
Talk about an impressive feat, and one that'll propel Toyota to pursue new automotive endeavors. Of course, we're guessing that you're more interested in knowing exactly how Toyota won its esteemed title back, right?
"They [Toyota] have a new sense of competitiveness and they certainly are bringing their volume back," says Jeff Schuster, the senior VP of forecasting for LMC Automotive in Troy, Michigan; speaking on the company's recapturing the market after last year's disaster, which led to widespread parts and production shortages. He goes on to applaud the introduction of several new and redesigned models as well, saying, "They have some new product around the world that's helping, with the new Camry and the Prius family."1
Throughout the last year, Toyota has released the reworked 2012 Toyota Camry, in addition to three new members to the Prius Family of Cars. New Prius models that Toyota has released include the larger 2012 Toyota Prius v, the smaller 2012 Toyota Prius c, and the more efficient 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-In, all of which compliment the original 2012 Toyota Prius perfectly.
