Move over, Honda. You may have heard rumors that Japanese automaker Toyota is bringing the heat and tackling the upcoming Honda FCX Clarity by creating and selling its own hydrogen fuel-cell car by the year 2015. Well, those rumors are true, and DCH Toyota of Torrance is here to provide you with additional details.

Toyota USA's President and Chief Executive Jim Lentz, explains that the hydrogen-powered consumer car will also come alongside full-electric, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid model options. He confirmed that the company would build the new vehicle in the next few years while speaking at the recent 2012 Centre for Automotive Research.

So, what's so great about hydrogen power? Well, for starters, it's incredibly eco-friendly, as it works by converting the chemical energy from a fuel into electricity through a chemical reaction with an oxidizing agent. Therefore, it produces very small amounts of emissions and is rather fuel-efficient. Hydrogen power seems to be the most likely technology to replace the traditional combustion engine successfully due to the fact that hydrogen-powered vehicles have the ability to charge much faster than all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The new hydrogen Honda, for example, boasts a charge time of only five minutes.

Be sure to stay tuned for more info. about this new vehicle, but, in the meantime, if your current Toyota requires a little TLC, feel free to contact the friendly experts at our car repair dept. today by calling 888-379-2266. We look forward to meeting you soon!
