The 1967 Toyota 2000 GT was discovered for sale on eBay this week. It was a unique coupe, and the critics back then loved it. 44 years after the first 2000 GT rolled off an assembly line, one can be yours. "It's fast, gorgeous, insanely rare and marked a new era for its manufacturer," says Auto Blog.
This vehicle showed that Toyota could hang with Italian sports car competition. Toyota was known for producing small, cheap sedans and 4x4's prior to the 2000 GT.
Toyota built only 351 2000 GTs for worldwide sale. 84 of those were left-hand-drive, only 62 making it to the US.
This eBay find is one of 40 American-delivery 2000 GTs still in existence. This is a one-owner car, purchased in St. Louis, Missouri and spent a long time in storage. The car received a detail job, engine rebuild and interior freshening at Maine Line Exotics in Biddeford, Maine. Its eBay Buy-It-Now price is $650,000.
