In today's highly competitive world of automotive engineering a manufacturer needs to make partnerships with the competition in order to make it to the top. In that tradition a major Japanese auto maker and top German car company might be joining forces to share hybrid technology.
Toyota has always been in the forefront with innovations in alternative energy and hybrid technology. Almost all Japanese auto makers share their work with other Japanese companies, but few head outside of those boarders to build partnerships.
It does make sense; Toyota has been the only company to successfully sell hybrid cars all over the world.
Now reports suggest that Mercedes-Benz is considering Toyota's hybrid power plants for their upcoming cars. Owners Daimler AG and Toyota have been negotiating for over a year and fans can expect an official announcement soon.
"This deal will further cement Toyota's position as the industry's hybrid technology leader. We are not sure which models from the Benz stable get this power plant yet. However, some say, the new A-Class might just be the best platform to start with," according to the reports.
