LEED - Interior Elements

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is an internationally recognized green building certification system. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in March 2000, LEED provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.

Here are some of the LEED interior elements that we buildt into our new showroom at DCH Toyota of Torrance:

  1. Recycled And Regional Materials
    In order to have the lowest impact possible, we acquired over 20% of the materials used in construction of our new showroom locally, in addition to using over 20% recycled materials.
  2. Low-Emitting Materials
    All materials used in the building are no VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds).  This provides a comfortable and healthy environment for both customers and employees.
  3. FSC-Certified Wood
    FSC-Certified forest products are verified throughout the entire supply chain, from harvesting to final sale for use.  The certification means that the products are from responsibly harvested sources.
  4. Smart Fixtures
    All of the fixtures in the new building are high-efficiency, from the faucets in the bathroom to the electrical sockets in the wall.  This cobmines to help reduce the energy usage by nearly 25%, and the water usage by more than 40%.
  5. No Smoking
    Smoking is not permitted anywhere in or around the building.  This policy provides a cleaner and healthier environment for both customers and employees.
  6. Education
    Educational displays appear throughout the showroom, highlighting what environmentally minded companies can do to reduce their impact on the world.
  7. Lighting Occupancy Sensors
    We are using occupancy sensors in the new building to determine whether anyone is present in a given room, and turn the lights on or off accordingly.  This helps to reduce our energy usage even further.

This list is by no means all of our commitment to the environment in our new facility - it is just a few items to highlight that our heart is in it, and we are willing to put our money where our mouth is.
