2012 Toyota Camry Wins Perfect Safety Rating

The 2012 Toyota Camry is available at DCH Toyota of Torrance, and there's no shortage of reasons why you should check out the mid-size entry from our favorite Japanese automaker. In its 2012 model year, the Camry has been given a wide range of upgrades, and each one works to reinforce the vehicle's image of safety, reliability, and fun.

Of course, these points need to have some form of measure. And while fun is more of a subjective term, reliability and safety are quite measureable. For proof that the Camry is both of these things, we turn to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), who just awarded the 2012 Toyota Camry a perfect five-star overall safety rating.

In 2011, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration conducted much stricter tests than in previous years. This means that many automakers were simply not ready for the kind of punishment that their vehicles would endure. Toyota, however, is not most automakers. Rather, they came prepared, equipping the 2012 Camry with the lauded Toyota Star Safety System. This means that it includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist, Smart Stop Technology Brake-Override System, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

If that seems like an expansive list, it's because it is. And, we might add, it's all standard fare when you finance or lease a Toyota Camry. Make no mistake about it, tough, this does not mean that Toyota is far from finished fortifying the Camry with as many safety features as possible. The mission is ongoing, and drivers in the greater Torrance area can rest assured that with each passing year, Toyota will continue to define safety time and time again.
